Shared content

Content created on one Mosaic site can be shared and made available for use on others. This has a variety of possible applications: it could be used to create a shared events calendar, or a cross-site blog. It also means that a single person profile could be created for each individual, and then displayed on the websites of all the project or groups that individual is involved in, removing the need to update multiple sites every time there's new information to be added.

Shared content is also great for creating subsidiary websites. These might be for a number of research groups attached to the same unit, or for different projects that one research group is working on, or for any situation where one umbrella group includes a number of semi-independent endeavours. Content items shared by the parent site can be displayed on the subsidiary site, alongside additional content created specifically for the subsidary site. This can both save work and help to achieve a uniform look and feel across sites, while still giving the subsidiary sites the freedom to create the content that's right for them.

For an example of shared content, see the T3 For All site. This is a website for one of the (fictional) projects described in the Research Projects section, which makes use of shared content from this site, blended with new content which appears only on that site.

See the documentation section on the main Mosaic service site for full details of how to set up and work with shared content.

See also the Shared search feature, which allows Mosaic sites to be grouped into collections which can be searched simultaneously.
